Surgery started at 8:00am this morning, soon after 9:00am they had Parker put under and all the IV's and lines in and were ready to make the incision. By 10:00am Dr. Smith came out and said surgery was finished and Dr. Spector was closing up the incision and cleaning things up. They moved Parker to the PICU and by noon we were able to see him. When we left the hospital at 3:00pm Parker was starting to wake up and the nurse thought that by tomorrow morning he should be breathing on his own again and off the ventilator.
The surgery went well. They were able to go in and cut out the narrow part of the aorta with no complications. Dr. Smith said Parker's heart is very healthy and he doesn't think that there will be any further complications as Parker gets older. The main thing now is to get his blood pressures regulated. It can take a while for the heart to realize that it has been fixed and doesn't need to pump as hard as it had been.
A big thank you to everyone that has been praying for Parker and for the family. We are constantly amazed at the number of people that have been praying for us. We definitely felt your prayers today. God has been good to us and I truly believe that your prayers have made a difference.

Glad everything is going so well. Can't wait to see all of you this weekend. Hopefully Parker will be home by then. We'll keep praying.
Larena, thanks so much for the update! You know we will still be praying as you all adjust to bringing Parker home and also that his complete recovery goes well and quickly. You guys are amazing!
